We Inter-Are

“WE INTER-ARE” means that we are very deeply connected to each other, to our planet and to all things. We cannot just be by ourselves, we can only inter-be / inter-are ... with all people and all things. This is also known as interbeing.

  • The words shared on this website started as a desire I had to share something that may benefit the world. Over the course of time, I have enjoyed fashioning words for this purpose and hope this website will now bring you enjoyment and benefit.

It is my hope that this becomes a useful website that you can visit regularly for interesting and timely content that can nourish and inspire you.

If you have enjoyed the words here, please share with friends and family who may also appreciate these words.

Creating some reflections and poem doesn’t mean that you can practice the words that you have written so I too will use be using the content here to refresh and deepen my practice of mindfulness, compassion and understanding.

    Dedication to people:

This website is dedicated to seekers of kindness and inner wisdom, to those who appreciate that our world is all connected, to those who want to reflect on the inner and outer world, to seekers of truth who want to go beyond words and discrimination, to those who are interested in the natural world and protecting it, to those who are looking for something a bit different.

This site has also been designed as a resource for to Buddhist Dharma teachers and for practitioners of meditation, to people who are interested in mindfulness and transformation, to everyone who believe in the path of love and understanding.

Last but not least this website is dedicated to my family and my friends - thank you for your love, kindness and support. We all inter-are.

May the words that I have shaped and fashioned here… bring you enjoyment and inspiration. May they be useful to you as materials for further reflection. Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you will gain benefit from your visit. 🙏

    Dedication to the ‘natural’ world:

This website is also dedicated to all the species and “non-living” elements that are not able to directly voice themselves in English or any other language. May the little that I offer here benefit our Natural World. 🙏

    Thanks for visiting,

    🙏 Luan

  • About We Inter-Are —

I created these poems for sharing,

I crafted these words for exploring.

I wanted to affirm our good nature,

And share a world most amazing…

    Some reflections on interbeing,

    On compassion and suffering,

    Reflections on various topics,

    As well as spontaneous feelings.

    To dabble in some awakening,

    To discover our discriminations,

To recognise our world of labelling,

    Observe our world of impermanence.

It is a chance to reflect on kindness,

    On compassion and life’s struggles.

On how we are all deeply connected…

    To absolutely everything.

To explore the walls of the mind,

And the barriers of our heart.

How we are not so different after all -

    This amazing world of interbeing.

Come explore the nature of words,

And the nature of their meaning.

How the mind runs on endlessly,

    Forever swinging , forever moving.

    Come and reconnect to nature,

Open our eyes to what is happening.

To hear silent cries of suffering,

From our planet and all beings.

Let us also discover real treasures…

Like our amazing nature of kindness.

    Places of love and understanding,

And the joy of mindful breathing.

It is to share with you some gentle steps,

    Along flowered paths of awakening.

To take you to dark places of war,

To the place where bombs are falling.

To a land where light is shining,

To many people who are smiling.

    To the peace residing within,

To our home of gentle calming.

In these words that are strung together,

Let us go on a fascinating journey.

To a realm that includes all the stars,

To our heart of love and understanding.

Visitor comments: There is a Visitor’s Book where you can leave your positive feedback/comments. Otherwise, please email me using the address above and also see the notes below.

    Please note:

+ Sometimes I don’t check my emails regularly so thank you for your patience if there is a delay in reply.

+ Please be aware that I won’t be explaining/expanding on the words that I have shared on this website - your inner wisdom is sufficient and besides, your way of seeing things could be much clearer/deeper/more beautiful than mine so who I’m I to clarify meaning for it is a personal thing? The words are the scaffolding for your views and insights based on your experience.

+ If you have a question and feel stuck on some meaning, a useful way of seeing things is to think of some of these words and imagery as seeds - reading these words is like sowing some seeds. When the right conditions exist and maybe not immediately, some of them will rise up and bear shoots and flowers. Each seed will appear and grow/flower differently in each person so it is hard to say if my flower is the same as yours. A perception of meaning today may not be the same perception next month or next year for understanding is also in transformation. This is impermanence, transformation and interbeing.

+ The nature of these weekly sharings are that they are impermanent - they will change over time. If you encounter them this week, you may not encounter them next week - it will be something else. Maybe something else that you will like better? There may be a reason why you encounter them this week (a thousand reasons actually, a thousand conditions, a thousand roots and shoots). I hope they bring timely benefit to you.

    🙏 Luan

❧ WEEKLY POEMS

~ To read my weekly poems, click on the + sign to expand them ~

  • How many days and weeks have gone by…

Since I entered this cocoon of a busy mind?

Since then, what suffering has come to pass?

Which corner of the world has been destroyed?

Forgetfulness is the death of mankind,

Distractions bringing us to dark times.

Whilst praying for our Mother Earth…

We consume and pollute her body.

Who would have believed us in the past?

That natural resources will come to an end?

That the world is not ours for the taking?

That eight billion could be a human number?

The momentum of mindless consumption —

Is like a great oil tanker that is hard to turn.

It needs for us to stop and carry on stopping —

For towards the horizon… rocky shores loom.

For just one hour, I remember to act wisely,

Then for two weeks, I forget to even remember.

For one day, I remember the whole of the world,

For two years, I only think of my world.

It is with sadness that I now contemplate…

That many are in the same sad situation.

We are too busy and distracted to look up,

We think small, not large, not kind, not far.

Now that these words have been written down,

May they be a bookmark for me to remember,

May they inspire me to turn a fresh new page,

Not add volumes to a library of forgetfulness.

    — Luan Dinh

  • In the darkness of the night,

    When my thoughts come alive...

I go back to my mindful breathing,

I go back to my mindful listening.

A single image I light up,

    Like a candle burning bright,

To ground me in peace and happiness,

To be a refuge throughout the night.

It is an image of someone I respect,

An image of peace and loving kindness,

I invite them to be with me tonight,

    Together, we will be alright.

Bringing this light  into my heart,

I let it burn inside warm and bright,

I listen to my mindful breathing,

    Peaceful sounds filling the night.

    — Luan Dinh

  • I step on this land,

    On this solid earth -

    As a free person!

    This present moment…

    Was always mine,

    Was always yours,

    Was always everybody’s.

When we arrive in this moment…

    All places are home,

    For both you and I,

    For everybody.

    You may want to disagree…

And say this is your land!

But I would have to say —

    Here is for everybody.

What good is this place called home…

If you have not yet arrived home?

If you have not seen it for what it is —

    A place of non-discrimination.

    So take these solid steps,

And make this place your home —

    A loving peaceful home...

    That belongs to everybody.

    — Luan Dinh
